I’m with you

They’re the three words you most want to hear.

Whether in times of joy or, G-d forbid, times of trouble.  When you’re going through a difficult period, and you feel like you just can’t keep up the struggle anymore.

Whatever the circumstance, the three most beautiful words a person can hear are:

I’m with you.

Can you imagine the hope conveyed in those few words?  To know that you’re not alone, that there’s someone you can always count on?  Someone who is not just eager to help, but can give you exactly the support that you need?

For 20 years now, this has been Ezrat Achim’s steadfast motto.  It’s the slogan that drives everything we do, every program and activity we run.

I’m with you.

Every single Beit Shemesh resident knows that when any issue arises, when you have any need for assistance, you turn to Ezrat Achim.

Because we’re with you.

Ezrat Achim is the umbrella chessed organization of Beit Shemesh, encompassing many different departments and types of help, that services the city residents 24/7.

With the entire world – and Beit Shemesh specifically – suffering through the Corona pandemic, these past few months have demonstrated just how vital it is to have a single umbrella organization like Ezrat Achim. An organization that can take command in a time of crisis and organize all of the necessary support systems in the city under one roof.

Those in quarantine, those sick with the virus, and the families caring for them all knew immediately where to turn.  They were able to have all of their needs taken care of, all of their fear and uncertainty allayed, with that single phone call.

Now you have the opportunity to say those words back.  Over these two days, July 1-2 (9-10 Tammuz), we need to hear from you, the residents of Beit Shemesh who have come to count on us:

We’re with you!

Because as much as you count on us, we count on you, as well. It’s your support that helps us continue our activities, that enables us to expand our programming and keep widening the reach of chessed in our city.

Together, we can accomplish tremendous amounts.  Let’s stand up together in Beit Shemesh – thousands of brothers and sisters, one family – and say to each other today:

I’m with you!

Ezrat Achim: We’re all Brothers

A Glimpse at Our Family

Special Siblings – Ezrat Achim’s department for children with special needs has grown over the past few years to service 327 local children.  We have made it our mission to service these precious children and their dedicated families as much as possible, by operating afterschool childcare centers – which includes weekends, Shabbat and Chagim – and running vacation getaways for the children and their families throughout the year, in particular during school vacations.  This is in addition to all of the other programs we run for the children – making each one appreciate just how truly special he is.

Brothers in Healing – Ezrat Achim began two decades ago as a basic medical equipment lending gemach.  From those humble beginnings, it has transformed into the huge medical empire that it is today. We operate Shabbat medical clinics, lend medical equipment throughout the city, provide burn treatment on such a high level of professionalism that we receive patients from throughout the country, operate an X-ray and radiology department, and provide testing and treatment for jaundice.

Brothers in the Kitchen – We launched our hot meals program just several months ago, but it has already become one of Ezrat Achim’s most well-known programs.  While most of us associate food distributions with poverty and deprivation, the heads of the organization were actually thinking in a different direction when they started this program.  Food is one of the basic ingredients for a functional home. Therefore, any time that a situation arises which may disrupt the functioning of a home – whether for a good reason like the birth of a baby, or because of illness, a mother who is unable to cope, or, of course, a family who is struggling financially – we make sure to be there and provide the family with hot, homecooked meals.

Brothers in Sorrow – No one wants to be in such circumstances. But when, lo aleinu, illness strikes a family, they know exactly whom to call. Starting with the ambulance to bring them to the hospital, and, later, a shuttle service to transport visitors to the hospital, our medical support department provides the full range of emotional and physical support that a family needs to get through this difficult time.

Brothers in Joy – Simcha is the best medicine for any trouble. That’s why Ezrat Achim works hard to bring joy to every family in need.  Sometimes, this means assisting those making simchas to ensure that this special time is truly joyous. It also means bringing the light of joy into homes that are experiencing crises.  When a family member is ill or missing, or when they’re experiencing financial difficulties, there is nothing like the joy of knowing there’s someone to take care of you.

And with simcha and caring, we can conquer anything.
